SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008) – Richard Allen Sherman got the shock of his lifetime Tuesday afternoon.

The 25-year-old insulator from Lawrenceburg, Ind., walked through a turnstile at Indiana Live Casino in Shelbyville – his first visit to the closest casino to Indianapolis ever – and with the blast of some sirens and drop of balloons and confetti became the casino’s 1 millionth guest since opening in June.

“This is truly overwhelming. I can’t believe this happened to me,” he said.

After the initial fanfare, Sherman then had a choice to make. He could select as his prize either 1 million credits on penny slot machines, $10,000 in free slot play or $5,000 cash.

He picked the cash – 100 crisp, new $50 bills.

“This’ll make Christmas a little brighter this year, that’s for sure,” he said.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (Friday, Dec. 5, 2008) – This holiday season, Indiana Live Casino and its customers will team up to make the holidays brighter for less-fortunate children touched by the Marine Corp. Toys for Tots campaign.

An oversized Toys for Tots donation box has been established in the front lobby of Indiana Live Casino in Shelbyville and players are asked to donate residual winnings – or any amount they choose – to the campaign. In turn, Indiana Live Casino will match player donations to Toys for Tots up to $10,000.

“The Indiana Live Casino family believes it is extremely important to be involved in the community and selected to back the Marine Corp. Toys for Tots program this holiday season to support deserving children and the overall military initiative,” said Mark Hemmerle, general manager of Indiana Live Casino.

Casino executives will present the Marine Corp. Toys for Tots with the financial contribution on Dec. 19 at Indiana Live Casino.

The donation will be the second large financial contribution that Indiana Live Casino has made to charity since opening on June 9. In late June, the casino donated $20,000 to the American Red Cross to help Hoosiers victimized by springtime flooding and severe storms.

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — Marie Moran of Southport is the third big winner of Indiana Live Casino’s “50K Break the Bank” promotion that runs through November.

“I didn’t believe it at first,” she said. “I punched my husband and asked him if he thought it was really true. This couldn’t have come at a better time.”

The “$50K Break the Bank” promotion offers casino players a chance to win their share of $50,000 through Nov. 30. Players who earn at least 25 slot points can swipe their Live Rewards Card at a casino kiosk and take a chance at winning $10,000 cash. When players swipe their cards, they either win $10,000 or gain one ticket to an end-of-promotion drawing where 35 lucky winners will share a $10,000 prize.

“You always hear of people winning,” Moran said. “Now that we’ve won, we’re coming back more often.”
